Catch the Tiger Street Football Grand Finals @ 1 Utama 17-18th September

"Tiger is proud to present Tiger Street Football, the edgiest football experience to ever take place on the streets of Malaysia. The Tiger Street Football Grand Finals will be kicking off this 18 September at the One Utama open air car park, where the world’s top street football players from seven countries will clash in an epic battle to claim the coveted title of being “King of the Streets”, the team will also walk away with a grand cash prize of USD30,000.00.

Participating teams from Brazil, Holland, Singapore, Thailand, Guangzhou, Vietnam, and Malaysia will be battling it out live on ESPN Star Sports to audiences around the world as they clash at the Grand Finals this September.

“Tiger Street Football is unquestionably the edgiest football experience to ever hit Malaysia. Bringing together top teams from seven different countries, it will be the ultimate centre stage to showcase the incredible skills and impressive footwork of the world’s elite street footballers, right here on the streets of Kuala Lumpur,” says Sean Koh, Marketing Manager of Tiger.

“Football lovers will get to experience a fresh spin to the competitive spirit of international football, from the traditional confines of a stadium to the grit of the streets in Malaysia. This unique event also marks the beginning of the new Tiger FC Football Season,” he added.

Regional Tournaments
Tiger Street Football regional tournaments kicked off this month – commencing at Danga Bay (Johor Bahru) on July 9, followed by Times Square (Penang) on July 16, Sunway Giza (Petaling Jaya) on July 23 and 24, and lastly Ipoh Garden East (Ipoh) on July 30. A total of 32 teams will be selected from the regional tournaments to compete in the National Finals on September 17. The final four teams will then represent Malaysia in the Grand Finals on the following day to go up against top teams from six other countries.

Tiger Fashion Edge
Two local street wear designers have been handpicked by Tiger to add more edge to Tiger Street Football fashion, as they will be collaborating to design street gear for the top Malaysian teams. All the six designs, featuring distinctively edgy concepts and artwork, have been put up on www.tigerstreetfootball.com as well as the Tiger Facebook page for public voting starting now until 15 August. All you have to do to vote is to visit the website and click “Like” on your favourite design.

Roaming Street Football
To further amplify the festive spirit of this international street football event, the enormous Tiger Street Football’s 40-footer trailer and a convoy of Vespas will be touring throughout the month of August to bring Tiger Street Football Fever to the whole nation. The entourage will travel from the Klang Valley to Ipoh, Penang, Malacca and Johor before returning to the Klang Valley again. There will be various exciting activities and games, as well as great Tiger Street Football merchandises to be won at each tour location.

Street Football Fever Pitch
Fret not if you unable to join in the battle as a player, as it will be just as exciting being a spectator! In this biggest celebration of winning football moments to date, Tiger will be activating two nights of pure football festivity that will feature a myriad of street performers from across the region all throughout the National and Grand Finals on 17 and 18 September. Spectators can expect an explosive, carnival-like atmosphere and enjoy a host of street-themed activities, as well as the opportunity to win plenty of amazing prizes.

If you need reprieve from the heat, the Tiger Stadium bar will be the perfect place for you to enjoy a refreshing, ice-cold Tiger Beer while witnessing the hottest street football action ever in town.

Consumers can also look out for exciting street football themed promos by Tiger at all entertainment outlets, pubs, coffee shops and hypermarkets this August .

After a month of gruelling rivalry throughout July, the best local street football teams from across Malaysia have been identified. These regional qualifiers will advance to the Tiger Street Football National Finals on 17 September 2011, where they will vie for the top four spots to defend our nation’s pride against the invading international teams during the Grand Finals.

These 26 teams of elite street footballers who hail from Penang, Ipoh, Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu will be revealed soon!
