Xandria has also expressed her excitement of becoming part of the AFC family. “The Asian Food Channel is a great platform featuring the most amazing food and food destinations around the world! Iʼm greatly honoured to be part of this family and proud to be able to showcase what Malaysia, and most importantly, Perak, has to offer on a larger scale, together with Chef Julie, the true Perakian ambassador who has been enticing travellers to Perak with her award winning restaurant, Indulgence since 1996! With AFCʼs wide reach in Asia, I strongly hope that AFC foodies will enjoy watching Discover Perak as much as I enjoyed filming it.”

The production of Discover Perak received the fullest support by the State Government via Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR), the brainchild of YAB Datoʼ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, the present Menteri Besar of Perak. The establishment of IDR, as the think-tank to the Perak State Government helps to realise the potential and generate greater awareness for the state of Perak, as well as to accomplish the objective of the “Perak Vision” – to become a developed state of Malaysia with the vision of Perak Amanjaya, a vision that promotes sustainable peace & prosperity.

Chef Julie demonstrate us how to make the Mango, Prawn and Pomelo Salad and shared the recipe with us too! So I decided to share with you guys too:

Tropicana – Mango, Prawn and Pomelo Salad Recipe
Serves 4

  • 2 mango, skinned and thickly sliced
  • 3 wedges of sweet Ipoh pomelo
  • Half just-ripe papaya, no skin and sliced into thin strips
  • 12 prawns, poached and shells removed
  • 1½ cups fresh coriander leaves, nicely washed

  • 3 limes, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 red chilli, de-seeded and chopped
  • 3 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 1½ teaspoon sugar
  • A pinch of salt flakes
  • 1½ teaspoon grated ginger
  • 6 tablespoons passion fruit pulp, fresh or frozen
  • 9 tablespoons olive oil

  1. Firstly, combine all dressing ingredients except the olive oil.
  2. In a mixing machine, slowly pour in the olive oil whilst the machine is running until the dressing is combined. Always taste the mixture.
  3. Remove into a separate bowl. Refrigerate the dressing if using later.
  4. In a separate bowl, lightly toss all the rest of the ingredients. Mix in the dressing just before serving.
  5. Serve immediately.

Here are some food served in Ibundan Authentic Malay Cuisine. Due to certain circumstances, we are having our dinner with candle lights. First time experience haha ;p

You can see what I ate and what YOU can eat =)

A new desserts that I've tried on. Delicious!

Watch Discover Perak on Astro channel 703 for good food and new place to travel to =)

We had the opportunity to watch "Discover Perak Ep. 2: Taiping" during the preview. It is funny to see Xandra hosting the show as in this episode she asked "How do the porcupines mate?" *Lol*

If got chance I would like to visit the Night Safari and not forgetting the food that has been introduced in Discover Perak. This show is more like a combination of travel and sharing of good food TV programme, which is great!

Mr Aminudin Hashim have lots of thing to share and we can foresee there will be "Discover Perak Season 2" coming up as in this season of Discover Perak, there are only less than 10% of the nice food in Perak covered and introduced.

*A sign to cut my hair short again*

Maybe next time Xandra and the crew can bring me and Wilson along for food travel in next season? *dreaming*
