HTC Desire S Battery Tips & Solutions #maxis10

If you are a user of current smartphone I guess everyone facing the same problem. HTC Desire S battery always die faster than you wanna call it a day. The 1450 mAh battery capacity is not enough for us. For social media evangelist like me, I Twitt and Facebook a lot using my smartphone, same things applied to my current HTC Desire S.

I using my phone with WiFi enabled, using HSDPA speed for fast internet browsing experience, Tweet and check updates, check out Facebook for photos and videos. Not forgetting my favourite hobby to Youtube new video. Guess how long my battery last? Only 6 hours +/- ...

Therefore I can't really enjoy the features of the phone fully and ought to switch off certain functions to get longer better life:

1. Change your 3G(HSDPA) to 2G(EDGE) instead. 3G use more battery life than 2G speed. This apply to all smartphones.
For HTC Desire S, you can go to Setting ;> Wireless & Networks ;> Mobile Networks ;> Network Mode ;> GSM Only

2. Switch off your WiFi, Bluetooth when not in use

Usually people will use a data plan because WiFi is not available everywhere and everytime. So switch it off when not in use. Same thing applied to Bluetooth.

3. Switch off your GPS Satelite function when not navigating
When Navigating using your HTC Desire S, it consume a lot of battery life because the device will try to connect with the satellites and communicate between each other.

4. Close apps that is running at background if you are not using
The apps that you've opened usually won't be shut down unless you tell them to. For Android phone it is a bit troublesome to close each apps because they all have unique placement of the Exit/Shutdown button. Therefore, recommend you to use Advanced Task Killer to shut down all runing apps to save more memory and battery life.

5. Lower the brightness of your screen and turn power saver on
Usually the main power consumption is the screen it self. Therefore, lower your screen brightness definitely helps a lot in saving the battery. Screen Timeout also helps you in saving power too. Disable onscreen animation when required and try not to use animated wallpaper if you can't easily charge your handphone.

6. Uninstall unused Apps
There are certain apps that always running at background although you have shut them down using Advanced Task Killer. Therefore, check out what are the apps that running at background and uninstall them when you no longer using it. Eg. Hootsuite, KakaoTalk running at the background although you didn't switch it on.
