The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat, Ipoh  - A place for you to enjoy your honeymoon

Finally I am going to share with you guys our 'honeymoon' experience at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Ipoh, which we visited for a 3 days 2 nights trip. Seriously, you gotta spend at least 2 nights here at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat as this place is so huge to explore the whole place (They have this Jeff cellar, Meditation Cave, Steam Cave, Dr Fish Pool, Spa and many more). Since kids below 12 are not allowed to stay in this retreat, The Banjaran is definitely a good place for couple to enjoy their honeymoon quietly except accompanied by the nature sounds of birds and insects. I really love that feeling of spending time together with love one at a quiet place with good environment, including good spa & massage, food and accommodation.

[If you have kids with you, best thing is to have your kids staying somewhere nearby as you are still allowed to bring your kids in for exploration as long as they don't stay overnight there.]

We were staying at the Water Villa @ The Banjaran, love the way they welcomed us with a special note mentioning our name and served us Ipoh famous fruit Pomelo. All we did during these two days were to enjoy the massage and spa included in our travel package and have delicious healthy food from the food corner as well. With such awesome experience we've got at The Banjaran, gotta say that the room rate is not cheap at all unless you are an employee working in Sunway Group that can get the room at better rate.

Do put in mind that The Banjaran Retreat is a place that is so different from the usual place that you visit, so it is really incomparable to a trip to Thailand for a beach getaway as this place is based on a hotspring and relaxing facilities that give you total different experience.

All right, let's scroll down to check out more details on what we've experienced:

We drove all the way from KL to Ipoh for this extraordinary trip. If you are driving to The Banjaran you'll need to pre-register your car plate number as there will be a guard house for security purpose =) (same goes to your visitor, make sure you give the reception their car plate number too). Arrived at the reception, given lemon-grass flavored welcome drink before we were transferred to our Water Villa on a 'golf-cart'. You will be given a bracelet-kind-room-key that you can wear all the time, it is waterproof too and it save the hassle of thinking where to keep your room key.

All right , let's check out our room Water Villa @ The Banjaran:

I was really amazed with the spacious interior of our Water Villa @ The Banjaran. You can have your private pool and Jacuzzi moment within your own villa. How great is that? =D I love that our Jacuzzi can be filled with the natural geothermal hotspring water too. Since some of the decoration were made of wood, you might spot fungus/mushroom growing on it. I hope that The Banjaran will do maintenance from time to time to keep this place looks beautiful.

I am glad that there was a cleaner who clean up the pool and Jacuzzi for us during our stay. At least the pool doesn't contain tree leaves/insect when we want to use it. After all, this place is located so near to the nature, tree leaves are inevitable.

Since both the Jacuzzi and pool are outdoor, I was worry at first by looking up to see if there's anyone would see us from top. Perhaps just monkeys on the mountain haha. It was really relaxing when you dip yourself inside the warm Jacuzzi while listen to the sound of nature. Insects and sometimes bird twitting.

SPA AND WELLNESS CENTRE @ THE BANJARAN
Since we were there to relax, we visited the Spa and Wellness Centre to pamper ourselves. There were two different session. First, we went for the "Dry Sauna Room". I can't remember the actual name but you will be lying inside that room for 20 minutes and let your body sweat. If I remember it right, the room contain healthy negative ions that help recover your body tiredness. Well, I feel a lot better after came out from that warm room.

We then take turns to enjoy this cool looking water spa with aromatic oil therapy. You'll lie inside that bathtub and there will be pressured water massage running throughout the treatment. Just imagine water massaging your whole body including your butt with colourful lights changing from time to time lol.

After enjoying the spa treatment, we were hungry and went to the restaurant called The Pomelo to have our dinner. We ordered 3 course meals and have different food for each other. Glad that they serve us fresh baked bun with the tastiest butter I ever had. To make it simple, the food served at The Pomelo is really good =) I will share more on what we ate the next day.

After breakfast, we then start to explore different places in The Banjaran. Above picture is the swimming pool that you can jump in. Towels are all ready on the bench. We then visit the Thermal Steam Cave that is so spacious and humid inside. I was risking my camera's life being affected by moisture that promote fungus growth just to show you how the interior of the Steam Cave looks like. [Do I deserve a FB Like? LOL]

SPOTTED BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES THAT CAN PEE @ THE BANJARAN
The most amazing thing that I've seen in The Banjaran is none other than these beautiful Raja Brooke Butterflies. I was shocked when I saw these butterflies pee out water from their butts. Apparently they were trying to acquire mineral salts by drinking the spring waters that coming out from the pipe and excrete excess water through their butt. Isn't that beautiful and interesting? I won't see this if I wasn't here at The Banjaran.

GARRA RUFA DR FISH POOL @ THE BANJARAN
If you dislike sauna or trapped in a steamed room, you may try this Garra Rufa Dr Fish Pool as the tiny little fishes will come and help smoothen your skin (especially your feet if you liek to wear high heels) It was quite fun to let the fish come and eat the dead cells on your feet. Feeling really ticklish if a big swarm of the Garra Rufa came and 'tickle' your legs.

WATERFALL AND MEDITATION CAVE @ THE BANJARAN
The Waterfall and the Meditation Cave really amazed me as I never expect this place to appear as part of The Banjaran. The entrance to the Meditation Cave is just right beside the Waterfall and it is quite dark inside. Therefore, take some time to adjust your vision upon entering the meditation cave. My girlfriend didn't feel save while entering the cave at all haha. For me, it is okay la, something really quiet for visitors to do meditation or even Yoga activities. However, I do advice you guys not to go there alone as it is a bit creepy if you are there alone in the cave but heard someone talking to you.... BOO!

Dipped ourselves in the warm Jacuzzi with natural geothermal spring water is pretty awesome. Enjoy to the max! We took a nap on the huge bed afterwards.

We brought our friends to the Water Villa and they were quite impressed with the room as well. Glad they brought extra clothes for change to enjoy the warm Jacuzzi with natural hotspring water.

There is an open area right beside the huge hotsprings 'lake' where you can enjoy the sunshine and do Yoga at the same time. I feel so refreshing and positive by just sitting doing nothing there too. I think Yoga is the best activities to do at that place. I guess you can always make special arrangement by having dinner/wedding ceremony at that place it self.

Since we have some extra time before check out in the noon, we visited the last place that we haven't visit in The Banjaran, which is The Gym. All the equipments look so new and you can switch on music, fans, aircon and lights while doing exercise in the gym.

I personally think that I won't be visiting the gym if I were there to pamper myself. I mean, I can do so many things such as get traditional massage or pamper myself with a spa. Dip myself in the hot pots and smoother my skin at Garra Rufa Dr Fish Pool. Do not forget that even inside the room you can enjoy your own personal hotspring Jacuzzi too. I wouldn't bother to exercise these two days but to enjoy everything to the max. Good relaxation, good food, good sleep and a very good getaway for honeymoon couple!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE @ THE BANJARAN
If you are one lovely couple who like to stay in some where close to nature, especially hotsprings, you may consider to spend your honeymoon here as this place has only total 25 villas. Means maximum there will be only 25 couples who living in this place at one time. The room services may be a bit slow but I like that they provide good spa and massage at the Spa and Wellness Centre. Not to forget they have good food served at The Pomelo and extraordinary wining session at the Jeff's Cellar too.

Our 3 days 2 nights lovely journey in The Banjaran cost us around RM4,500++ including a few spa and massages, including breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. The only thing that you need to worry about is the little pricey room rate in exchange for a wonderful journey inside this place.  If you ask me where do I want to shoot my pre-wedding photos, I will definitely include this place especially the location near the waterfall and Meditation Cave. It just so beautiful!!

If anyone of you sweet couple looking for a photographer to shoot your pre-wedding photos in The Banjaran, feel free to contact me as I know a few beautiful spot to take photos already haha. Feel free to check out my Sky Arts Production FB Page/other blogpost for photos.
