It is my honor to be invited and attend X Top Model Search Grand Finale @ Sunway Pyramid. Always wonder how gorgeous people can stay confident and walk on the stage. Met many new friends from different field including photographers, models, designer and of course local celebrities & personalities. I was quite shy in approaching though...~

The X Top Model Search 2011 has found Malaysia’s X Top Model with the X Factor and the girl who will rock the runways at Beijing Fashion Week and gain instant supermodel stardom is Aw Sim Hui.


The esteemed panel of judges comprised the who’s who of the fashion industry and they were Flora Zeta Cheong-Leen, Renown China Hkg Producer of China Next Model Search; Winnie Loo, A Cut Above; Dato’ Lewre Lew from home-grown, international brand Lewre; Gillian Hung, president of Malaysian Official Designer’s Association (MODA) and Amber Chia, Malaysia’s own supermodel and founder of Amber Chia Academy. Together, they judged that “Sim Hui has the X Factor to take her far in the international fashion arena.”



Emcee Henry Golding kicked off the runway competition by showing off clips and makeover photos of the Top 10 girls. The transformation the girls went through was amazing. After an X-hilirating hip hop/streetdance performance by ECX, winner of 8TV’s Showdown 2011, the Top 10 girls rocked the runways with clothes from Resort Collections of Alia Bastaman, The Carnaby London designed by famous Singer Suen Yen Zhi, Chow of Raffles College of Higher Education Designer Award and last but not the least Malaysia Top Designer Keith Kee Couture. Shawn Lee and rocker violinist, Dennis Lau, brought down the house with their X-citing performance of beat box and electrifying rendition.



With this win, Sim Hui earned the once-in-a-lifetime bragging rights to rock the Beijing runway during the Beijing Fashion Week. On top of that, Sim Hui wins a one-year X-clusive contract with famed Elite Hong Kong Model Management, which will certainly take her to other runways around Asia, plus cash and prizes all in worth of RM 100,000.



The other subsidiary winners include Jojo Tan and Fancy Goh who were declared joint winners of X Walk title while Grace Chew won the X Shot title. Sim Hui swept the Designer Pick/Choice for Raffles Fashion Design Award created by designer Chow.



At 19, Sim Hui is the youngest contestant and slipped into competition mode when two previous girls pulled out due to personal reasons. Lady Luck was certainly upon her as she attended the open casting with her two older sisters, both above the required height of 170cm, but only she was selected to be in the Top 10!



During the Malls Hop and Clubs Hop, which were packed with X-citing challenges, Sim Hui showed promised by winning the X Glam Challenge with Calvin Thoo and Da Vinci @ Fahrenheit 88. She won the X Glam Challenge in style and prize cache of a starring role in Calvin Thoo ad campaign, Calvin Thoo couture shoes and a Da Vinci watch worth RM1,000. She also won RM500 worth of cash vouchers winning the Clubs Hop challenge @ The Hill.



As for the subsidiary title winners, Jojo also struck gold in the grand finale by becoming joint winner of the X Walk title with Fancy. Jojo had earlier walked away with the prize of RM500 worth of Lewre shoes by winning the X Walk Challenge with Lewre @ Empire Shopping Gallery.



During the Search, the Perfect 10 underwent intensive grooming and makeovers, cat-walking, posing, photo shoot and dancing with Amber Chia and Benjamin Toong of Amber Chia Academy; Jim Liaw and his team; Jimmy and a host of many gurus in Kuala Lumpur. In Hong Kong and Nansha, China, the girls were trained by the famed Elite guru, Flora Zeta Cheong-Leen. They successfully tucked under their shimmering belts countless sessions of makeover, grooming, meeting VIPs and industry people who can catapult their modelling careers. The X Top Model Search girls also hosted mini segments for tourism Hong Kong and it was an X-citing assignment for them.

Interview the judges after the first catwalk. I personally think that you can see who are the winners among them based on how they did their catwalk. Some is good at portray their dresses. The eye contact and facial expression is crucial too. I hope some of the model can make sure their eyeliner/fake eyelashes are not too thick till cover the eyes =S
