This month, foodies will be treated to the rich authentic Malaysian flavours whipped up by world-renowned American Chinese chef, Martin Yan, in ‘Taste of Malaysia’, a brand new cooking programme. 

The series which was officially launched at the The Place @ One City will focus on how the diversity of food and culture in the country instills a sense of togetherness among Malaysians. The series was shot in several locations across Malaysia such as Klang, Penang, Ipoh, Malacca, Terengganu, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.

This 26-episode travel and cooking programme, sponsored by Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), AirAsia, Jasmine Food Corporation and Cornell Appliances, will be shown in two languages – Mandarin and English. The Mandarin version will air on 8TV starting 6 September 2015 every Sunday at 6.30pm whereas the English version will be broadcasted on ntv7 beginning 8 September 2015 every Tuesday at 9.00 pm.

During the press conference, Chef Martin thrilled the crowd by demonstrating his speedy chopping skills and also the making of his signature ‘Chicken and Walnut Salad’.

Martin Yan invited the pretty host Belinda Chee to prepare the salad together. Check out the perfectly grilled chicken!!
Martin Yan is no doubt a humorous TV-Host and a good cook!

"Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures and food and I am proud to be its ‘ambassador’ to showcase its unique flavours to the rest of the world. This programme will emphasize on tradition which is synonymous with Asian culture and the type of food that has evolved over time," said Martin.

Martin, 67, who has been hosting cooking shows for 36 years is not just a celebrity chef but an established culinary scholar and is the founder of the Yan Can International Cooking School in the San Francisco Bay area. Apart from owning the chain of Yan Can Restaurants, he is also known for hosting numerous cooking shows on TV and writing recipe books since 1982 when he rose to fame in the “Yan Can Cook” culinary series. The 3,000 episode programme was shown in over 60 countries, hence making him one of the most popular celebrity chefs around the world.

Hahaha! Above is just a funny photo that I can't resist to post it up. Martin was talented enough to slice the tomato up to 20++ pieces and I was really impressed with his skill!! Learnt how to smash garlic like a pro using his knife too. He was so entertaining during the cooking demo in "Taste of Malaysia" Press Event. I think you will definitely love to watch his latest cooking and travel show.

I just hope that I can learn either his cooking/hosting skills by watching that show. With that, my YouTube won't be that plain anymore hahaha. It was good to meet you Chef Martin Yan =) Hope to see you again!!
