On 20 September 2015, Le Pont Boulangerie et Café has officially opened its stately doors in Old Klang Road with a three-storey French European boulangerie-patisserie-café offering wholesome cafe cuisine, traditionally artisanal yet innovative breads and pastry, custom-roasted house blend coffee and specially-crafted drinks.

The inspiration behind the name Le Pont (French for ‘The Bridge’) comes from the desire to capture the vision of a unique space where people can come together and forge new friendships and the aspiration to create a food and beverage concept where food and drink connect seamlessly. Thus was born a French European boulangerie-patisserie-cafe that strives to connect cultures, link great food with memorable moments and showcase culinary expertise and gastronomic innovations.

After reading the post from EatDrinkKL,  I was really interested to check out their interior, especially that beautiful stairs. Thankfully Le Pont invited me for their official Grand Launch so I can check out this place with gf. They have actually operated for quite some time before this launch though. Let's check out the interior shall we??

Lots of activities like Making Croissant and Coffee Brewing Workshop being scheduled on that day itself. In the end, I've learned how to roll the croissant that day and won a RM50 Voucher. Used it all on that day itself too for all kinds of breads and share with friends haha.

This vision materialised in the modern French cuisine café menu, European inspired creations that grace the bread and pastry shelves and carefully-crafted coffee experiences. To solidify the vision, a space was designed where concrete co-exists with wood perfectly to invoke functionality and warmth. The result is a comfortable meeting point for work and play, family and individual, food and drink.

The gastronomic experience of Le Pont is centred on the trio of pastries and breads, the cafe and speciality coffee. Each of these three central pillars embodies a distinct food philosophy and a commitment to its customers.


Bread and Pastry at Le Pont Boulangerie et Café

The Bread and Pastry
Le Pont Boulangerie et Café offers over 40 different varieties of breads and pastries, all made with a high degree of precision and exactness. From ensuring a consistent temperature of the ice water used to make pastry to using only top grade Valrhona chocolate in the mousse, the team of patissiers and bakers go the distance to delight the senses and tastebuds. Breads, pastries and cakes are made fresh with no preservatives or artificial agents.

Signature offerings at the bakery are the chocolate caramel mousse, flourless chocolate cake, the Fougasse and vanilla cream doughnut.

The Cafe
In designing the cafe menu, Chef de Cuisine Daniel Wong called upon his many years of experience in creating fine dining experiences. The challenge lay in creating a menu with the right mix of family fare and comfort food, with the right touch of sophistication to reflect the French-European connection. The café features staples like soups, salads and sandwiches to more hearty yet traditionalist fare like lamb shank, with sparks of modern contemporary French like the mango salmon. And to keep things exciting, fun and fresh, Chef Daniel and his team create monthly theme-driven special menus, pushing the envelope a little each time.

Signature offerings at the cafe are the mushroom soup served with Le Pont’s mushroom toast, Caesar salad, the Pissaladiere tart, the Le Pont Special Lamb Shank, Vegetarian Linguine, Anchovy Linguine, Tiramisu, Le Pont Signature Waffles and Profiterole with ice cream.

Speciality Coffee and Craft Drinks
Le Pont’s coffee aims to please the palate and inspire adventure. For the coffee drinkers looking for a reliable cuppa that never fails to satisfy, the Head of Coffee David Leong worked with roasters to create a unique house blend with a specific profile. Le Pont’s beans have a chocolatey sweet flavour, which gives the coffee a good body and excellent consistency. The 60-65 degree steamed milk completes the sublime experience. For coffee drinkers with a more refined palate looking for a coffee experience, David has introduced a free-pour and hand-brewed coffee experience.

The signature craft beverages are the Hand Brew, Iced Long Black, Rose Latte, Piccolo Latte, Affogato and refreshing lemonade.

David Leong, Head of Coffee
David is a certified Authorised Trainer with the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), as well as the Director and Lead Trainer with the Barista Guild Asia’s Coffee Academy. He also oversees the Public Relations for Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association. He has competed professionally and has been a judge in numerous national Barista competitions, evaluating the full spectrum of Barista technical skills, from coffee-making to sensory evaluation. David brings his considerable knowledge and expertise to the task of creating the coffee experience at Le Pont as well as the overall beverage selection on the menu. From designing the flavour behind the house blend used in all of Le Pont’s coffee creations to collaborating with Chef Padzli on the home-made vanilla ice cream used in Le Pont’s signature affogato, David’s task is to ensure every customer at Le Pont has the perfect beverage accompaniment to their meal or simply, the time spent at the cafe.

David’s favourite drink on the Le Pont menu is the signature Iced Long Black, enjoyed with Chef Pazdli’s gianduja cake.

Okie, enough with the press release haha. Here's a photo with Serena C who was emcee of the day. Always good to see her! She recommend the scone pastry in Le Pont. You should try it out =) The event that day was kinda packed with lots of opening ceremony programme, floating balloons drop from the sky contains croissant, linking of bridge pieces to form the bridge (Le Pont), workshop for both invited guest and media friends, live band and live arts drawing at 3rd floor.

Chef Padzli was doing a Croissant Making Workshop and I grabbed the chance to learn how to roll it pre-prepared dough. Partly because they are giving out RM100 voucher to the winner and I wanna try my luck hahaha. It seems kinda easy to roll the croissants but to make it looks beautiful, it is a different story. I wonder who ate the croissant we rolled at the end of the day~

Do you know that Three Quarter Cup(3quartercup) Coffee has moved in to Le Pont Boulangerie?? There was a coffee brewing workshop lead by David Leong. After seeing how he brewed the coffee, knowledge and skill are definitely prerequisite to make a good cup of coffee.  A good barista together with suitable choice of coffee bean will decide on the quality of the cup of coffee it produce. Don't you think it would be great if you can see how your coffee being prepared before it was served to you??

Overall, Le Pont Boulangerie et Café has a beautifully decorated interior with mainly concrete and wood elements. If you look from bottom, the stairs definitely looks interesting. Ground floor is space for Bread and Pastries dine-in only while second and third floor is the cafe which serve more food above. During the launch event, I have not manage to try any of its main dish as that day buffet was served. But I gotta say the mushroom soup was good!!

There's lot of stairs to climb to reach the top floor but no worries as you may take the lift at one corner. Therefore it is suitable for you to bring your parents/grandparents along to try out the food here. Not much photos taken at 1st floor as the place was crowded with customers.

I've noticed quite a lot Instagram worthy corner in this 3 storey cafe. So I do foresee more nice photos taken at this cafe appear on my Instagram newsfeed. Just check out #lepontboulangerie and #lepont.

You may use the window at the main door to create some interesting image =)

There's a few reason for you to like this place. First of all, if you fancy places with good interior design, this is one of it. Second, they have bread, pastries, French cuisine and of course coffee, variety of choices for you to dine-in here. Third, Le Pont usually open until late night so you can definitely drop by here for late dinner/supper after work. This could be a new hang out place for you and your friend. The only thing about this place is the amount of stairs here and here, so be very careful when you walk around the cafe kay? Price of food and drink is above average so bring some friends to share the food. It makes your Instagram photo looks more interesting too right?

I've heard a few unpleasant customer experience at Le Pont and I do wish the management have done something to make the service better. Anyway, I shall drop by there again to try out their food next round. What would you recommend if you've been there?? I heard the Salmon sandwich and waffles are good. What about others??
