Azerai Can Tho Resort - My personal experience on this peaceful islet

If you like to stay on a private islet located in the middle of Mekong Delta, yet well equipped with luxurious facilities within the resort that is minimalist in design, Azerai Can Tho can be your preferred stay location. Azerai covers an area of over eight hectares with 60 rooms. The design is inspired by traditional architecture and achieved through a contemporary interpretation. The resort is isolated from the noise of city and surrounded by tall trees that give you extra privacy. If you are early riser, you can catch the sunrise coming up from the Can Tho Bridge every morning.

Personal boat shuttle from Azerai Pavilion to Azerai Resort within 10 minutes

Since Azerai Can Tho is on the islet, all guest will need to take a personal boat shuttle at Azerai  Arrival Pavilion (25 minutes car ride from Can Tho International Airport) and it take only maximum 10 minutes to reach your resort by boat. Every time after we finish exploring at Can Tho City during day time, I enjoy the boat ride knowing that I am getting back to this cozy resort.

The moment we reached the resort, we were welcomed with cold towels and cool drinks with fruit skewer at the hotel lobby. I was so surprised to see Serge Ditesheim, the GM waiting for us at the dock under the hot sun. Thanks for the warm welcome!

With Azerai's minimalist design concept, the rooms has universal look but they have different view (garden view, lake view and river view). I stayed at the room with river view, which remains our privacy with the tall trees shading part of it. Some times you can hear the sampan passing by.

The accommodation is housed in 30 two-room structures, with each room approximately 35 square metres in size. Embracing the use of local materials for today’s modern comforts, the rooms are surrounded by tropical gardens and trees and follow the natural contour of the islet’s northern shoreline. Interiors are light and neutral in tone.

Azerai Can Tho River Room: It is 35 metre square in size with river view, a simple yet elegant room with minibar, safety box, coffee machine, air conditioned and FREE Wifi. All rooms provide a spacious bathroom area and a combined bed and sitting area, with a terrace with sofa bench facing the river.

Every time we come back to our room, it was cleaned well in both morning and evening. Comfortable sleep at night with the remote to control the electrical curtain shades right from the bed. Rooms can be combined using an interconnecting door to create two-bedroom accommodations, which are ideal for families.

A centrally located 31-metre rectangular infinity pool provides an enjoyable focal point and sits between the Café and Bar. Surrounded by shaded sun-loungers and sofas on all four sides, the swimming pool is ideal for waterside relaxation, light meals and refreshments.

Love the serenity at this pool. The water is pretty calm in early morning and you can get a perfect reflection shot during that time. Pool water seems warmer than what I expected during my stay. Which means you won't feel cold even if you dip yourself long in it.

AZERAI CAN THO CAFE

The Café offers an all-day dining menu featuring regional and international comfort foods, with a keen focus on fresh, local ingredients and flavours. Breakfasts include traditional Vietnamese beef or chicken pho, as well as an international menu with eggs, sausages, pancakes, pastries, fresh tropical fruit and hand-pressed juices. Lunch favourites include regional Vietnamese dishes, salads and sandwiches and house-made desserts. Dinner features a casual tapas-style menu to encourage a social dining experience.

Looking at the food presentation and reminiscence the taste we had, they are all tasted good especially the squid salad with pomelo fruits, the claypot ribs and the glutinous rice dessert served at the end.

All kinds of tropical fruits served as part of your breakfast spread. Love this!!

Facing the pool area, the Lounge is ideal for small bites and refreshments between meals. Afternoon tea is served daily, accompanied by sweet and savoury options. The Bar offers a range of pre-dinner aperitifs, cocktails, craft beers, international wines, liqueurs, mocktails and fresh juices.

Set under the canopy of centuries-old banyan trees, the Grill serves dinner only. A specialty grill menu includes fresh-caught crustaceans and fish, beef and poultry, along with seasonal salads, organic vegetables and house-made sauces and condiments.

Thanks to Chef Sagar Iyer and the team who had prepared awesome meals for us the other night. The food presentation and taste do match with what Azerai Resort would like to deliver. I love the lamb the most and I wish I had bigger stomach to fit more of it. If you're lazy to go out of the islet to try out local Vietnamese food, just enjoy a relaxing dinner here in Azerai Can Tho Grill House.

AZERAI CAN THO SPA

Azerai Spa sits along the banks of the islet’s interior mangrove canals and is tucked under a shaded canopy of banyan trees. The spa features six air-conditioned rooms and two treatment suites, each with private bath and dressing facilities for maximum privacy, comfort and serenity.

The spa menu offers a range of treatments from deep-tissue to gentle massages, hot stone therapies, body wraps, scrubs and facials. Treatments use bespoke products blended with local natural ingredients such as Mekong rice, sweet almond oil and coffee to promote detoxification, renewal and enhanced wellness.

Trained in local holistic wisdom and traditional Vietnamese healing techniques, the spa’s skilled and nurturing therapists offer consultations prior to treatment in order to achieve best personal results. Azerai Spa also offers a salon for manicures, pedicures and hair-styling.

Remember to try apply icy cold ices on your body after spending time in the sauna/steam room. 

I was very excited to try out the hot and cold experience in Azerai Spa. After putting yourself inside the steam room/ sauna room for around 10 minutes. It is really relaxing when you apply the soft ice on your body and skin. Amazingly refreshing and you will have an undescribable sensation. Go try it yourself!

After joining a full-day tour exploring Can Tho City and attractions, you'll find the spa and massage at Azerai Can Tho Spa very helpful in easing your sore limbs and have a good relaxation time with their signature spa and massage treatment. The massage strength can be adjusted based on your preferences.

AZERAI CAN THO FITNESS GYM

The spacious gymnasium pavilion overlooks the Hau River and is equipped with up-to-date treadmills, exercise cycles, elliptical machines, a weight station and free weights. A contemporary Pilates studio offers the latest in Allegro Reformer equipment, while a dedicated yoga and meditation pavilion is an ideal setting for relaxation and gentle exercise. Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy the resort’s riverfront courts.

If staying fit is your kind of daily routine, check out Azerai Gym where you can run on a treadmill overlooking the Can Tho river and Can Tho bridge.  The gym is pretty well equipped with all sorts of machines. They have a room for pilate too; Nearby the gym has a building where you can practice meditation and yoga.

OTHER FACILITIES THAT I HAVE YET TO DISCOVER:

Meeting room pavilion, Junior Zone dedicated to the young, Junior swimming pool and a Boutique  next to hotel lobby features a range of traditional Vietnamese products.

FUN FACT 1: Wake up as early as 5-5.30am to catch the sunrise near the helipad of Azerai Can Tho Resort. You can see boats passing through and mini cars on the bridge. Monst importantly, the sunrise was beautiful~! You will able to catch the sunrise on the boat if you joined the tour to explore Cai Rang Floating Market.

FUN FACT 2: I saw these solar panels while cycling around the resort. It's good to know that Azerai Resort is going green with green energy

Overall, it was a pleasant stay in Azerai Can Tho, waking up early for the sunrise was hard (sun rise as early as 5.30am) but it was a good experience to experience that on the islet. If you're lucky you will able to smell the sweet scent of flowers while cycling around the resort. Bicycles are provided to you for easy access to your room and other facilities nearby.

If you love serenity in a resort, Azerai Can Tho is a place to go and spend time with your love one and family. They have junior swimming pools for kids so less noise at the big pool. Azerai Can Tho also offer sunset cruise which I've yet to experience.  But I can tell you are in good hands and travel with a nice boat.

Grab a bicycle and tour around Azerai Can Tho. Sooner or later you can have a full islet tour with it
