Phoenix Chinese Restaurant at Holiday Inn KL Glenmarie: CNY Menu 2014

Did you know that Holiday Inn KL Glenmarie has a halal Chinese restaurant well hidden inside their golf club?? Phoenix Chinese Restaurant is actually part of the Glenmarie Golf and Country club but managed by the Holiday Inn. The restaurant doesn't look really big and as you can see there were total 7 dining tables in there. In conjunction with Chinese New Year 2014, I was there to have my first 'lou sang' of the year with some blogger buddies and to try out their new CNY menu catered for the 2014 horse year.

We tried out the CNY Fortune Menu (RM988++) and below are the food being served. In overall, I find the dishes were quite traditional except the fried prawn and fried rice with new taste elements included this round.  Although they are traditional, it is important that they taste good right? I really enjoy feasting all the dishes as almost all the dishes has their unique sauce that bring out the taste of the food.

A traditional Yee Sang with crispy and crunchy bites will always the best appetizer during Chinese New Year. According to the tradition, the higher you 'lou' the better your luck will be. Hence that explained the messy aftermath haha. Chef Francis Lau and Peggy from Holiday Inn were there to join us for the CNY meal. Good to meet Ivy, Isaac and wife too for the CNY dinner at Phoenix Chinese Restaurant.

I believe every time after 'lou sang' people will try to search for Salmon slice among the food. Don't tell me you never did that *smirk*

Since nowadays people anti-shark fin soup, Holiday Inn KL Glenmarie's Phoenix Chinese Restaurant usually don't serve shark fin anymore unless customer's special request. Now everyone want to protect shark, so eat more other food kay? Furthermore, shark fin actually doesn't have any taste, it was the braised soup that give you the taste.

Remember to pair the roasted chicken with the spicy plum sauce as it made them taste great =) Add some crispiness by having a slice of prawn cracker!

The Ginger Sauce was generously poured on the fish and people who don't like fish will able to try this fish =D If not because I have a few more dishes ahead, I would have eat the fish head too!

My favourite dish among the whole menu is none other than this Fried Ming Har Prawn. I love the presentation of this dishes together with the strawberries and fruits. Don't you think a food with good presentation will tempts you more? I am a seafood person so yeah, I highly recommend this dish to you guys.

After all the meat and seafood, it is time to balance your diet with a vegetable dishes. Nothing to shout about because I already full (and it is vegetable) haha. Make sure you eat more vegetables to ease digestion ya.

There's always a rice dishes to make sure you are full after this CNY dinner. The interesting new element added to the fried rice is the generous amount of Tobiko on top of it. It has the ham and prawns that increase the taste.

 Cute rabbit buns with pandan filling in it together with fried new year cake. Make sure to eat the New Year Cake while it is hot and crispy. Inside the crispy skin is the New Year Cake paired with yam slice.

Every one love sweet ending, therefore here's a desserts to satisfy your taste bud. Drink more if you wanna be a sweet couple like me! Just kidding~
