[Photowalk] Thaipusam 2016 @ Batu Caves Malaysia

[Photowalk] Thaipusam Festival at Batu Caves Malaysia 2016 Last year was my first time to pay a visit to Batu Caves for Thaipusam Festival thanks to Robin Wong and friends. This year, I went to Batu Caves again with Raymond and girlfriend since this will be her first time seeing the festival in real time. This time we drove and parked our car near one of the petrol station in Batu Caves area. Reached around 6.31 am  and started shooting around the river since the preparation for Thaipusam started there. Noted they have renovated the shower area with proper marble stone but kinda block views for photographers. When compared to last year Thaipusam Festival, I find that less crowded this time. Maybe because I came at a different timing and it was easier to climb uphill to reach the top too. Instead of having multiple post about Thaipusam, I am going to finalize the photos and frame them in Instagram square size. Hope you like the Thaipusam photos that I captured at Batu Ca

Melody x Azmie | Dancing In The City #SkyArtsPro

Image
Melody x Azmie | Dancing In The City I still remember it was a random photography outing in September that I got myself into. Gary has been planning this with Melody for months and I was like "okay let's just go there kacau to shoot something different" .  I brought along girlfriend to the shoot in KL and the first location was at the parking lot near Pavilion KL. Gary was doing his 'Architecture x Dance' 4th Series featuring Melody and Azmie while I just shooting from the side warming up myself. I was trying to capture something like Gary did but after looking back at the photo series, it seems like I tends to capture more on those candid moments happened between the really-not-easy-dance posing shots.  Gotta say thanks to Melody Tee and Azmie Zanal Abdden for thinking all sorts of dance moves and poses while we composite the photos. I gotta say it was definitely not easy to do all those poses and hold it for as long as they can. I can really

Street Photography Using Lenovo Vibe Shot @ Little India Brickfields KL

Street Photography Using Lenovo Vibe Shot @ Little India Brickfields KL Early in September, Lenovo Malaysia organized a special hangout session with National Geographic Photographer Hannah Reyes . In collaboration between Lenovo and National Geographic, Hannah is the current brand ambassador for Lenovo Vibe Shot and you may check out her beautiful shots taken during her travel to 5 Southeast Asian countries and India . Being able to shoot photos for National Geographic Creative is definitely something that I am looking forward to. Therefore I went for the hangout thinking that it was just a casual session chit-chat with Hannah Reyes and to learn a few photography tips from the awesome photographer herself. Little did I know that Lenovo Malaysia loan each of us a Lenovo Vibe Shot to take photos on the street of Little India Brickfields Kuala Lumpur. As what I understand about Indian's culture, they are always colorful in terms of food, sarees and so many other

#BERSIH4 - My Photography Journey @ Dataran Merdeka, Masjid Jamek & Bukit Jalil

#BERSIH4.0 - My Photography Journey @ Dataran Merdeka , Masjid Jamek and Bukit Jalil "Prime Minister Najib Razak has become embroiled in a scandal involving state fund debts and allegations of deposits totaling 2.6 billion ringgit paid to his bank account. Razak has denied any wrongdoing. Thousands of people gathered to demand his resignation and a new general election." Yesterday Bersih Rally was a peaceful journey for all Malaysians except the firecrackers incident. I am glad that the culprit has been caught and this time everyone is safe!! Below are a series of photos taken during my trip to Masjid Jamek and Dataran Merdeka from Bukit Jalil LRT Station. Since the Merdeka celebration has been moved to Bukit Jalil, you can see the crowd coming in to celebrate Merdeka. After comparing the crowds, they came for different purpose. At Bukit Jalil, they were there mostly with families to celebrate Merdeka day with live music and fireworks at 12am; At Dataran Merdek

My View On The Yellow Sea at #Bersih4.0 Dataran Merdeka - 30.8.2015

The Yellow Sea at #Bersih4.0 Dataran Merdeka 30.8.2015 Captured through the window of the moving LRT Just got back from the street photography of #BERSIH4.0 at Dataran Merdeka and Masjid Jamek area tonight. The crowd is definitely huge and it was hard to move around when I arrived at night. Decided to drop by this place quite last minute as it was raining in KL. Anyhow, I am glad I've made it to capture some precious moments of this event which happened in Malaysia. When I reached Masjid Jamek LRT Station the whole place was crowded already, it was not easy to move around. Some of them sitting on the floor focusing on the truck which has speakers giving speech and some just move around trying to reach Dataran Merdeka.  I gave up trying to reach Dataran Merdeka as I know it is totally full with people in yellow shirts. Hence I decided to leave around 11.30pm by taking the LRT and this is what I saw when the LRT moving from Masjid Jamek to Bandaraya. The view was astoni

FIVE Hidden Gems Rediscovered in Kuala Lumpur with Project:RE

Image
Lenovo Project:RE - Rediscover The City of  Kuala Lumpur Here is it!! After weeks of planning and research online with the helps of Yoga Tablet 2 with Windows, I am now revealing with you guys what are the hidden gems that I found during my adventure to the familiar yet mysterious Kuala Lumpur. Below is the map route that I've planned and marked with pins. My starting point from Dang Wangi LRT and ended at PasarSeni LRT Station Ever since I start travelling, I know that to fully explore one place you must take it slow and walk on foot instead. With that you will able to see more things at your surroundings. I've always wanted to explore the city but it was hard to find parking when I was driving and there are certain roads that can only be accessed if you walk.  Took LRT to Dang Wangi Station so I can explore the city by foot That's why I've decided to take the LRT to Dang Wangi Station and continue my exploration all the way up to PasarSeni LR

Image
Thaipusam 2015 Batu Caves - Shave & Shower Happy CNY to you guys who still celebrating it especially "Bai Ti Gong" this Thursday. I still remember I can see a lot of huge fireworks that day. Okie this is the continuation of my Thaipusam 2015 @ Batu Caves photo post and this time I would like to feature moments captured at the riverside. Where you see people taking shower after shaved their head and get blessing from the god before carry a barrel of milk and going up hill to Batu Caves. Photos are captured using Nikon D800 and paired with Nikkor 85mm F1.8 or my #TCFisheye lens for the wide view~

Photowalk to Thaipusam 2015 Batu Caves [Part 2]: 272 steps to the top

Photowalk to Thaipusam 2015 Batu Caves [Part 2]: Kid's gorgeous big eyes If you haven't read my first post about Thaipusam @ Batu Caves 2015 , go read it now as these photo stories are connected. To get to the top of Batu Caves, everyone need to queue up in the jam-packed crowd and trying not to fall down or being suffocated (especially kids who join the queue). I believe we've spent at least an hour in the crowd just to reach the starting of the stairs. Apparently there are three rows of queue but only two passage available to go up. Therefore some of them shouted and complain as there were a few devotees who can't stand it and pass out. That was the time people around get even angrier and shout out even louder. That was the time the queue started to move a little bit faster. Since we were stuck among packed crowd, there was nothing much to shoot as your eye view will be about people's head and it was hard to switch lenses. This time I use mainly the 8 m

Photowalk to Thaipusam 2015 Batu Caves [Part 1]: Sit Female Coach for the first time

Image
Thaipusam 2015 Batu Caves Malaysia celebrate Thaipusam every year and it is always a grand festival in Batu Caves. Honestly, we ourselves as a Malaysian should go there at least once in a lifetime because tourist from oversea came all the way for this!! Since I am staying not that far from Batu Caves, so why shouldn't I go? That's what I was thinking when Robin and friend asked if I wanna join the photowalk. Although it wasn't comfortable when you were stuck between the mountain of people, it was a great experience for me to understand more about Thaipusam and the culture in a very close distance. We meet at KTM Tasik Selatan as early as 3am to avoid crowd and KTM service was available specially for Thaipusam season. The counter was closed and the gate was open, so we just went in the station without paying tickets for the first time. That was our first time sitting in the KTM female coach without worry of being starred or chased away by the ladies haha.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014: Street Photography with You #SCKLM2014

Image
Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014 If you ask me to choose between running and swimming, I will definitely go for swimming because it is more comfortable and relaxing for me instead of panting for breath after a run haha. My lovely girlfriend love to run so I accompanied her to Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014 the other day. Seriously, I find it difficult to wake up early in the morning at 5am just to go for a morning run. But well it is once a year to witness this huge KL marathon in the beautiful heart of Malaysia.  I was planning to take photos for girlfriend and friends at the finish line but in the end I think I took more street shoots and shoot something different this time (real excuse is because I didn't manage to spot them at the finish line hahaha)

Image
All right, before you continue read this post, you should continue read my previous photo post where all photos captured using Olympus OMD EM1 togehter with 75mm and 25mm f.18 featuring the Sri Mahamariamman Indian temple . This will be the last post about Olympus Street Photography featuring the wet market instead, the place where I met two interesting people and heard their story.

Flowers necklace selling outside of Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuala Lumpur After visiting Guan Ti Miao 廣肇會館關帝廟 , Robin from Olympus Malaysia brought us to this Indian Temple named Sri Mahamariamman Temple . The people were friendly so I started to take photo after I took off my shoes passing it to this man. The Shoes Man @ Sri Mahamariamman Temple Because the sun was shinning straight to the floor, it somehow become a huge reflector to shine on him and got the image above. I love how his eyes turn out =)

Finally!! I have decided to settle down and share photos taken during last month's Olympus Malaysia Photography outing lead by Robin Wong. This is actually my first time using Olympus System and I would like to thanks Jackie Loi for lending me his Olympus E-M1 and Robin Wong  who 'poison' me with a series of Olympus greatest lenses. I am currently a Nikon DSLR user and always looking for new alternative when I want to travel light but still not neglecting good quality images. Why? Because my DSLR AND lenses is always heavier than mirrorless camera and I wanna know how good is Olympus OM-D E-M1 and whether it meet my par. Since I took quite a lot photos, I've decided to feature and categorize it based on location. We went to a Chinese Temple, Indian Temple and also the wet market, which I met great people there. Now I shall share photos captured around this Chinese temple - "Guang Zhao Hui Guan Guan Ti Miao 廣肇會館關帝廟". This temple is known as Kwong
